Daniel LeBlanc, CFP ®, CIM ®

Dan’s independent approach, solid educational foundation, and wealth of practical experience make him an invaluable asset in managing the company’s financial strategies. His unique ability to navigate complex financial scenarios has been key in developing and implementing fiscal policies that align with the company’s long-term goals. Dan’s role is critical in optimizing and safeguarding the company’s assets.

Devin Cattelan, Hons. BSc, CFA® CFP®

Prior to working in the industry, Devin studied at Bishop’s University where he earned a degree in mathematics and business. He has since obtained the CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst) and CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) designations. In 2018 Devin was named a ‘Young Gun’ by Wealth Professional Canada – an award given to 20 advisors under 35 who are poised to lead Canada’s wealth management industry into the future. In his spare time, Devin enjoys playing hockey, trying new foods, exploring new countries, and volunteering as a mentor for the Big Brother Big Sister of Toronto charity.

Shawna Young

Shawna has the critical responsibility of ensuring the firm’s adherence to relevant regulations and industry standards. With a robust background in senior compliance positions and a proven track record as a trusted leader in the field, Shawna has a key role in shaping and maintaining the culture of compliance at Verecan. 

Shawna takes a proactive approach to compliance by developing and implementing comprehensive policies and procedures. This ensures that all Verecan Group companies meet and exceed regulatory requirements and industry standards. She collaborates closely with senior management of each division to ensure that compliance considerations are seamlessly integrated into the fabric of business decisions while maintaining the highest ethical standards. 

Shawna sat on IIROC’s NS District Council for eight years and served as Chairperson representing Nova Scotia on IIROC’s National Advisory Committee for two years. 

Here is a fun fact about Shawna that you might not know — she’s a huge Walt Disney World fan. She loves WDW for the quality of everything they do – from taking care of guests to honouring the past with little touches all around the parks to the completely immersive experience of being there. One of her favourite quotes is by Walt Disney, “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible” — we think that’s fitting based on her track record of getting results! 

Sadie Perlstrom

Sadie has been serving our clients in Nelson since 2007. In 2016 she embarked on a new role within the company and has continued to expand her responsibilities. Her problem-solving abilities are second to none, and she has proved to be an invaluable part of our team’s success. Today, Sadie is responsible for company-wide operations at Verecan as well as day-to-day management and professional development of the administrative team across Canada. Sadie was born and raised in Nelson, BC and is a proud supporter of the community, serving as a member of the local Rotary Club and the Kootenay Swim Club. Sadie is is a loving mother to Sawyer and Grayson, who are also growing up to appreciate Nelson and enjoy an active Kootenay lifestyle.

Richard W. Fewell, CPA, CMA, CFA, CBV, MBA

Richard brings a wealth of experience to the team at Verecan Wealth. A Chartered Financial Analyst who spent over 15 years as a research analyst and portfolio manager with a national investment counsel firm, Richard is a key member of the investment team. His main areas of emphasis are conducting company research on prospective investments, providing insights into industry and economic conditions and evaluating and monitoring funds we invest in.

On the wealth and retirement planning side of the practice, Richard has a focus on working with business owners and professionals. Over a 35-year career he has worked in many fields including taxation, business banking, accounting and business brokerage. He has also been involved in several business start-ups and has helped many owners with the successful sale of their business. This background and experience have given him a lot of insight into the unique challenges and needs of business owners and he endeavours to take a holistic and individualized approach to clients’ situations.

Dylan Wilson, Hons. BComm, CFP®

Originally from Burlington, Dylan moved to Toronto to attend Seneca College and earned an Honours Bachelor Degree in Financial Services Management. He started his career at BMO, working as a Business Development Associate/Investment Specialist, where he deepened his knowledge of product offerings and learned to excel at managing client relationships. Dylan is now a Chartered Investment Manager & CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional. Dylan is actively involved in the community coaching the 18U Toronto Playgrounds DS Baseball Club & an Alumni Speaker at Seneca College. He enjoys rooting for the hometown Toronto Blue Jays & Maple Leafs and playing squash in his spare time.

Dylan is the 2020 winner of the PlanPlus Global Canadian Financial Planning Award.

Kathryn Toope

Kathryn is a marketing and communications professional with extensive financial services experience. She has completed the CSC, CPH, Insurance Licensing, Fundamentals of Derivatives, and Options Licensing courses. Although she enjoyed that side of the business, she made the leap to marketing in 2008.

With both agency and client-side experience to bolster her first-hand knowledge of our industry, she uses her skills and education in both arenas to share compelling stories, create meaningful & informative content to serve our clients and the general public, and accurately and engagingly communicate Verecan’s personality.
